The Manufactured Home Inspection Process

For the most part, manufactured homes receive a standard home inspection. The undercarriage, vapor barrier, and tie-downs of manufactured homes are inspected in addition to all of the standard checks. It's important these components are inspected so that manufactured homes are protected against moisture damage and severe weather.

Vapor barriers protect manufactured homes from moisture that can seep into the home from the ground. They can often tear or become detached.

Tie-downs are a system made up of anchors and heavy-duty straps that stabilize manufactured homes when there are high winds. Manufactured homes can slide or overturn if tie-downs are improperly installed or poorly maintained. Manufactured homes require tie-downs for stability because they have more chance of being damaged during windstorms and other severe weather.
